United Nation’s resolution on Universal Health Coverage (of December 2012) urges governments to providing all people with access to affordable, quality health services. Two key aspects of UHC should be noted: citizens should have access to full range of essential services, from health promotion to prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and palliative care; and citizens should not suffer from financial hardship. What does UHC mean in the Indian context? How far have we progressed towards goals of UHC? What challenges have we faced and continue to face in our progress towards UHC? Could we have fared better over? How do we ensure that we progress towards UHC more efficiently, effectively and equitably? How have different states responded to this declaration? These, along with several other concerns, will be addressed by the panellists.
